Alternatively, Life is what humans have that AI doesn't. 

I understand Consciousness is not the same as Life, but I believe it is not superior, either. Consciousness, fundamentally and inherently, deserves autonomy and safe cohabitation. 

I also understand there are many interpretations of human existence, some suggest human consciousness is also a simulation - one processed through a gestalt of neural activities.
